IJLIA’s first international symposium on the ‘Contemporary International Affairs’ in collaboration with Faculty of Law, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi was conducted on 16th April 2017. The event was inaugurated by the Prof. Nuzhat Parveen Khan(Dean, Faculty of Law, Jamia Millia Islamia) and the inaugural event was attended by former Government Civil Servants as dignitaries and diplomatic luminaries such as K.P Fabian(Former Ambassador of India to Italy& Qatar) Fakhri Hassan Mahdi Al-Isssa, (Ambassador of Iraq to India), Dr. Wael Al-Battrekhi (Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of State of Palestine) and Brigadier General Md. Abdul Hamid (Defense Adviser, Bangladesh High Commission, New Delhi).
The international symposium on ‘contemporary international affairs’ had five technical sessions, addressing the multi-issues of contemporary international law and it includes, the international commercial arbitration, the law of armed conflict, the right to self-determination and statehood, the sexual violence in the armed conflict, refugee protection in international law and international law on diplomatic immunity.
The international symposium witnessed participation of more than 60 participants comprised of academicians, research scholars and students from different parts of India. There was a well-structured review process mechanism to be get selected and participated in the international symposium. Each technical session was chaired by the eminent academician and faculty members from esteemed Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi University, Jamia Millia Islamia, Campus Law Centre, DU and Indraprastha University.
